Jackass 3D (Paramount Pictures)

3D Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest

Just when you thought the fall season of movies couldnt get any worse along comes Johnny Knoxville and his band of brothers in Jackass 3D. This is another collection of gross and dangerous acts by the cast that leads to embarrassment on the part of the audience and even a little sickening of their stomachs. If there is anything that can be offensive, this group finds it and exploits it.

Knoxville is the lead participant in these different acts. He is getting a little older but obviously not a little wiser since he still subjects his body to brutal assaults by humans and animals. But then everyone in the cast does from being stung by bees to being bungee jumped in a portable toilet. Dont even ask what the result of that latter trick is!

A few years ago this film would have been rated NC-17 or X but not today. Today anything goes. And the audiences watching this movie are howling their heads off. Of course this type of base behavior appeals to the drunken frat boy inside us all.

The stupid tricks are the draw here. It certainly isnt the appeal of the cast. These guys are never going to win any contests based on their looks. Their appeal is in their personalities. They are willing to give anything and everything a try. From Steve-O to Jason Acuna and many others the more dangerous the trick the more they like it. The grosser the trick the more they like it.

Some of the tricks are awesome; some are exciting; some are embarrassing; some are nauseating. Take your pick, it is all there. But by the time you have been through about half a dozen the movie begins to blur and it is just dull seeing what follows.

As for the film being in 3-D, this feature adds nothing to the enjoyment of the movie. It is just an angle to be exploited and a reason to charge more for the fun. The skits/tricks are what they are and the special effects dont make them any more or any less exciting.

The movie is rated R for nudity, profanity, violence and overall grossness.

This is basically an all male team of tricksters ready to do anything for the thrill and effect. How much you enjoy it depends on your gag reflex and your tolerance of extreme gross behavior. It has been said that this will be in the last of the series. With the success this one seems destined to have, that finality is doubtful.

I scored Jackass 3D an in your face 3 out of 10.
