Aliens In the Attic (20th Century Fox)
Have I Seen This One Before
Aliens In the Attic is the kind of movie you watch and think have I seen this before It all seems so familiar and so predictable. Kids will enjoy it probably, but adults will be watching their watches.
This is one of those movies where two families, brothers in this case, take their families on vacation together. They share a house on a lake and hope that the kids will bond. Of course at first they dont but after they discover aliens in the attic they do.
There is an invasion of earth in the offing and the kids have to prevent it. Of course one of the aliens is a good guy, see what I mean about the familiarity, but the rest are deadly. Can the kids bond, derail the invasion, and keep the parents clueless about the aliens What do you think
The cast is full of unknowns, slightly knowns, and who are theys. Best known of the cast is Ashley Tisdale, renowned as Sharpay of High School Musical fame. She has darkened her hair and sharpened her nose but we still know its Sharpay.
Having fun as the kids grandmother is Doris Roberts. We all knew and loved her in Everybody Loves Raymond and we still love her in this one. Once she gets possessed by the aliens she is a lot of fun.
Kevin Nealon and Andy Richter play the brothers. They dont do anything special but they dont get in the way of the fun. Tim Meadows makes an appearance as the local sheriff.
Robert Hoffman plays Tisdales goofy boyfriend in the film. We all saw him in Step Up 2: The Streets. In this film he gets to do all the craziest things and he is a good sport about it all. He brightens up the film when he is on screen.
The movie is rated PG for mild violence and some suggestive humor.
Aliens In the Attic is not a bad movie but it is all just so been there done that in content. The aliens are fun to watch and seeing the kids vanquish them makes for some enjoyment too. Your kids are going to enjoy this whether you do or not so just grin and bear it.
I scored Aliens In the Attic an alienating 5 out of 10.
