UNTOUCHABLE Is Not Jayne Ann Krentz At Her Best

UNTOUCHABLE by Jayne Ann Krentz

Jayne Ann Krentz is a talented writer. She can create characters who intrigue readers and she can formulate plots that hold their attention. When Jayne Ann Krentz is writing at her best she soars. Unfortunately her new novel UNTOUCHABLE is not Ms. Krentz at her best. Oh it has some fairly interesting characters and the plot holds your attention most of the time, but overall it is just flat. It verges on repeat storytelling and that is never a good thing.

The main characters are Jack Lancaster and Winter Meadows. He is a man who investigates cold cases and she is a woman who has some powers of hypnotism. Somehow their paths cross and they find they have a common goal. They want to find a man named Quinton Zane. He supposedly is a dead man but Lancaster has a feeling he is still alive and causing havoc in people’s lives.

During the course of this novel Jack and Winter find out they are romantically attracted to each other. They also find that their talents work well together. No surprises there and not many surprises overall in their story.

This is the third book in the “Sons of Anson Salinas Series.” In the previous two books readers have learned about Jack’s adopted father and his two adopted brothers. If you have read these books you might get a better understanding of the plot of UNTOUCHABLE. If you haven’t read the preceding two books then this story might seem a little fresher to you.

Jayne Ann Krentz sometimes writes under the pen name of Amanda Quick. Lately the books under that name have been better than those under the Krentz name. They seem a little fresher, a little less repetitive. Still her talent as a writer is there regardless of the name used.

If you have read the two other books in this series by Jayne Ann Krentz you will want to read this one and complete the package. Otherwise you might just want to wait on the next new novel by Krentz and hope it will be a new start. I know that is what I am hoping.

UNTOUCHABLE is published by Berkley. It contains 336 pages and sells for $27.00.
