“See No Evil” (Lionsgate Films)
Also See No Sick Movies
What is it with Lionsgate Films Lately all they have produced have been sick, non-scary, cheap looking movies that make a little money the first weekend and then fade from sight. And this is certainly the case with “See No Evil,” a soon to be forgotten horror film that plays to the sickness of society and wastes the time of those who stumble in to view it.
The movie starts off with two policemen entering a church like building. Of course they don’t wait for backup but stumble blindly in even though there is blood spattered on the walls. They find a young woman who has been blinded; her eyes have actually been removed. They are attacked, and though one officer shoots the monster who attacked them, he gets away.
Now the film moves forward in time and the officer who survived the attack, but lost an arm, is taking a group of delinquents to a work project at a run down motel. These young people, men and women, are hostile to the idea of doing good works. They just want to do some drugs and hook up. Of course this means they have to go to the off limits floors of the hotel.
The monster man (Kane) from the first attack lives in this hotel and he quickly starts eliminating each of the kids and the adults. Of course some will survive but the only fun of the film is picking which ones you think have the best shot.
This is a horribly gratuitously violent movie that plays on the worst elements of society and tries to make a buck by providing sleazy characters and sensationalized violent scenes. Watching people have their eyes plucked out should not be a way to be entertained.
The actor Kane is a wrestler of some renown. He had best head back to the big ring and leave movies of this type alone. Anyone connected with this movie will not be able to use it as a positive thing on his or her rsum.
The film is rated R for gore and violence as well as nudity and profanity.
This movie is evil so if you take the title literally you will not waste your money on this film. You will not see it or speak of it again. You will just let it settle to the bottom of the scum pile and rest there forever.
I scored “See No Evil” a commanded 3 out of 10.
